Negotiating Identity and Belonging: A Narrative Inquiry of Venezuelan Childhood-Arrival Immigrants in Canada

Summary

This study is about Venezuelan people who moved to Canada when they were children and grew up with both Venezuelan and Canadian cultures. I want to learn how they see their cultural identity, where they feel they belong, and how their life experiences have shaped their feelings, relationships, and sense of self over time.

If you take part, you will do one interview that will last about 60 to 90 minutes. The interview can be in person or online. You can also choose to speak in English or Spanish. In the interview, you will be asked to talk about your experiences with moving to Canada, growing up in a new country, family life, culture, identity, and belonging. There are no right or wrong answers. I am only interested in your own stories and what your experiences have been like for you.

The goal of this study is to better understand what it is like for Venezuelan people who moved to Canada as children. It also aims to help improve support for immigrant communities, especially in mental health and community services.
