Understanding Physical Literacy Presence and the Relevance of the Long-Term Development Framework in Dance
Summary
Dear Dance Instructors, Studio Owners, and Community Dance Program Directors,
My name is Sam Beckman, and I am a second-year PhD student in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. I would like to invite you to participate in a research project about understanding the perspectives of dance educators with regards to long-term development of dancers. In the dance context, long-term development refers to the evolution of dancer capabilities physically, emotionally, and socially across their lifespan. The current project will be conducted by myself and supervised by Dr. Sarah Kenny and Dr. Laura St. John.
Your participation would involve completing a 30-minute survey wherein you will provide your opinion regarding how structured long-term development could be approached in dance. You also have the opportunity to participate in an interview or focus group should you wish to discuss this topic further.
This research will help us better understand how a long-term development framework that is commonly used in sport may be adapted and used for dance.
If you have any questions, please contact me directly at: samantha.beckman@ucalgary.ca
Thank you for your time and consideration, I look forward to hopefully working with you in the future.
Warmly,
Sam Beckman
