Social Innovation Initiative (SII)

The SII is supported by the Office of the Vice-President (Research) to moblize academic experience and transdisciplinary expertise into solutions for complex social challenges. 

SII's mandate is to enhance understanding, build capacity for, and to recognize social innovation.

The SII serves:

Researchers, students, and staff working on solutions for positive change in community

We offer:

  • Funding for indirect costs of research and partnership (e.g., expert-led workshops, outreach activities, IP and knowledge mobilization support services)
  • Service model for early-stage research with an intent to mobilize into community
  • Connection to UCalgary's innovation ecosystem and community
