Transdisciplinary student programs

For undergraduate and graduate students on campus

Undergraduate Research Experiences (UREX)

The Institutes for Transdisciplinary Scholarship support 10 UREX Awards each year that transcend disciplinary boundaries and focus on complex and societally relevant questions, challenges and problems. UREX Awards provide up to $7,500 of financial support to University of Calgary undergraduates to conduct research for 8, 12 or 16 weeks between May and August.

*The PURE Award is now the UREX Award to better reflect the inclusivity of our program.

Transdisciplinary Graduate Programs

The University of Calgary's Transdisciplinary Graduate Programs bring together students, researchers, community and industry partners to tackle complex real-world challenges that cannot be solved through a single discipline alone. Through innovative certificates, master's and doctoral pathways, students gain the knowledge, skills and collaborative experience needed to bridge traditional academic boundaries, engage with diverse perspectives and create meaningful solutions.

The Graduate College

The Graduate College was created to be a community of scholars united in pursuit of a common vision. That vision is based on three foundational themes: to connect, enrich, and energize the communities that it serves. These communities include the city of Calgary, UCalgary, and the College's community of Scholars. The Graduate College is also the academic and community home for transdisciplinary graduate programs, serving the community of transdisciplinary scholars as well.
