Raha Bahrehdar

Raha Bahrehdar

Postdoctoral Associate

Raha (Azam) Bahrehdar recently joined the Intelligent Geospatial Data Mining Lab in the Department of Geomatics Engineering as a Postdoctoral Associate. She is currently developing a smart routing system for goods transportation in extreme weather, similar to what we experience in Calgary, by enhancing due diligence and risk management systems and incorporating locational information. With an interest in real-world problems and practical applications, Raha decided to improve her entrepreneurial skills by joining the Hunter Hub Launchpad program.

Marc Strous

Marc Strous

Professor, Department of Geoscience, UCalgary, Campus Alberta Innovation Program (CAIP) Chair in Energy Bioengineering

Co-founder, Synergia Biotech Inc.

Marc Strous has made many groundbreaking contributions to microbial ecology, biogeochemistry and environmental biotechnology. His research sparked a major revision of the global biogeochemical nitrogen cycle concept. His career has been marked by the discovery of new pathways in biochemistry and microbial symbiosis. Strous is currently building on his ecology and engineering expertise to create a feasible, sustainable net-negative-carbon-dioxide-emissions biotechnology, for counteracting climate change.

Agasteswar Vadlamani

Agasteswar Vadlamani

Postdoctoral Associate, Co-founder, Synergia Biotech Inc.

Dr. Vadlamani is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Geoscience. His research focusses on carbon capture via biological routes and developing economical and sustainable production processes for high value products. His work at the UCalgary, led to co-found Synergia Biotech Inc., a cleantech start-up that produces phycocyanin, a natural blue colour.
