Renzo Correa Silva
Research Associate, CEO & Co-founder, LysisLogic
Renzo is a Research Associate at UCalgary – Dept of Geoscience, where he leads an industry-funded research consortium. The successes around his research and innovations translated into the spin-off company LysisLogic Scientific Inc. He is passionate about bridging academic and industry resources to tackle real-world problems at the intersection of chemistry, geology and energy research.
Raha Bahrehdar
Postdoctoral Associate
Raha (Azam) Bahrehdar recently joined the Intelligent Geospatial Data Mining Lab in the Department of Geomatics Engineering as a Postdoctoral Associate. She is currently developing a smart routing system for goods transportation in extreme weather, similar to what we experience in Calgary, by enhancing due diligence and risk management systems and incorporating locational information. With an interest in real-world problems and practical applications, Raha decided to improve her entrepreneurial skills by joining the Hunter Hub Launchpad program.
Marc Strous
Professor, Department of Geoscience, UCalgary, Campus Alberta Innovation Program (CAIP) Chair in Energy Bioengineering
Co-founder, Synergia Biotech Inc.
Marc Strous has made many groundbreaking contributions to microbial ecology, biogeochemistry and environmental biotechnology. His research sparked a major revision of the global biogeochemical nitrogen cycle concept. His career has been marked by the discovery of new pathways in biochemistry and microbial symbiosis. Strous is currently building on his ecology and engineering expertise to create a feasible, sustainable net-negative-carbon-dioxide-emissions biotechnology, for counteracting climate change.
Agasteswar Vadlamani
Postdoctoral Associate, Co-founder, Synergia Biotech Inc.
Dr. Vadlamani is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Geoscience. His research focusses on carbon capture via biological routes and developing economical and sustainable production processes for high value products. His work at the UCalgary, led to co-found Synergia Biotech Inc., a cleantech start-up that produces phycocyanin, a natural blue colour.
Stephen Larter (Moderator)
Associate Vice-President (Research-Innovation)
Steve Larter is a Canada Research Chair and professor of petroleum geology at UCalgary in the Department of Geosciences. Professor Larter is cofounder of numerous technology startup companies, including Gushor Inc. (now part of Schlumberger), and currently advises several university-based student, postdoctoral, and faculty startups.
