Description
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a widely and successfully used approach to treat gambling problems. However, core definitions and mechanisms of action remain undefined. Using a rich dataset from a previously funded AGRI project, we aim narrow these gaps in two ways: a) Define and compare two empirical definitions of client ambivalence, which is a central target of MI; and b) Quantify and analyze the influence of clinician strategies on treatment outcomes.
