Dining
The Main Lodge, newly renovated in 2018, provides delicious and hearty buffet style meals. Each seating can hold 60 people and bagged meal options are available for groups heading offsite. The dining room loft offers a place to relax and enjoy the views.
The dining room is nut-free, and caters to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free (please note, gluten products are used in the kitchen). We are unable to cater for Kosher or Halal, air-born allergies, and extreme dietary restrictions.
Please note, there is no grocery store on site, with the nearest General Store located 15 km south at the Kananaskis Village and the nearest town of Canmore, 45 km west of the Field Station.
Accommodation
Barrier Lake station contains a variety of dormitory style accommodation. Linens are available for groups and researchers. There is a laundry facility onsite with coin operated machines.
The Main Lodge contains two wings which sleep 26 people. The South wing has 8 rooms with bunkbeds (max 16 people) and a shared washroom facility accessible for wheelchairs. The North wing has 5 rooms (max 10 people) with bunkbeds and shared washroom facility.
The Forestry lodge has 11 rooms with a bunkbed to sleep 44 people. There are two shared washrooms and separate shower facilities. The forestry lodge includes self-catered kitchen/dining facility and lounge area for groups to socialize.
Duplex accommodation is available to researchers and groups and contain a small kitchen with basic supplies, 1 bathroom, 1 or 2 bedrooms with bunkbeds, and a loft with two single beds. Depending on the unit, a duplex can hold 6 or 10 people maximum. Duplexes can be booked on a monthly basis.
