EDI in Research Team
Contact Us: edi.rso@ucalgary.ca
The EDI in Research team supports all members of the UCalgary research community to effectively embed EDI in research design, practice, and administration. Our work aligns with the two organizing principles of the UCalgary model of EDIA in research:
- Nothing About Us Without Us, and
- One Size Does Not Fit All
Our Approach
The EDI in Research team aims to bring appreciative and strengths-focused approaches to supporting all members of the UCalgary research community to effectively embed EDI in research design, practice, and administration.
Consultations: Through 1:1 consultations or workshops and programming, our goal is to continually explore and support a mastery of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) principles, leading to effective and meaningful actions.

Nothing About Us Without Us
This idea draws from disability, racial justice and Indigenous activism, which insist that any initiative involving EDG group members must be developed by and co-constituted through direct engagement with them.
One Size Does Not Fit All
We recognized the importance of this notion, along with eschewing the practice of standardized or formulaic approaches to EDI and accessibility. This repudiation is crucial to designing and co-constituted policy approaches by, with and for members of each Equity Deserving Group (EDG).
