Knowledge to Impact - red abstract

Knowledge to Impact

Maximize and recognize the impacts of research.

New Name, Even More Support.

The Knowledge to Impact team supports collaborative efforts to maximize and recognize positive impacts of research for the benefit of our local, national and international communities.

Previously known as Knowledge Engagement, in addition to still offering support for community partnerships and knowledge mobilization, our field of focus has expanded in recent years to also offer guidance on initiatives such as the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) and Open Science. This growth revealed a need for our name to better reflect how important it is to consider the impact of the work and findings throughout all stages of a research project. Helping researchers convert Knowledge to Impact.

Pathways to Research Impact:

Impact from research and scholarship can occur in many domains - including health, economic, environmental, social and cultural.

Impact is often the destination of a long journey; it may be intended or unintended, positive or negative. We aim to support and recognize diverse pathways to impact.

A simplified pathway to impact considers steps taken beyond primary outputs (ie. publications), to use and uptake of the research (outcomes), and then longer-term changes (impacts).
