Research prizes and awards showcase the impact of exceptional scholarship across our institution.
They not only celebrate academic excellence but also help researchers build visibility, attract funding, and foster new collaborations, enhancing both individual and institutional reputation.
Recognition of the excellence of individual faculty members is essential for accomplishing our Academic Plan and Research Plan.
In order to track the success of our faculty members and share their stories, we ask that nominators inform Research Services of any nominations being put forward.
Prizes and Awards Opportunities
The Office of the Vice-President (Research) and the Research Services Office regularly share opportunities for prizes and awards to the University community. If you wish to be added to the mailing list, please contact vprcomms@ucalgary.ca
A searchable Research Opportunities Database is available to the University community, which lists prizes and awards for all disciplines and career stages, deadlines, eligibility requirements and other important information, and links to the sponsors’ web sites.
Research Services can also assist faculty members with finding prizes and awards suitable for their area of research and career stage.
Research Services:
- communicating award opportunities
- advising on candidate selection and nomination strategies
- coordinating with awarding agencies and advising on nomination processes
- reviewing and providing feedback on nomination materials
- facilitating peer reviews via the SUPPORT: Research Awards Committee;
and
- submitting completed nomination packages
