Research Services supports researchers to pursue and obtain a wide range of funding, including grants, chairs and professorships, and institutional programs.
Research Services also advises on and facilitates the nomination of UCalgary researchers for provincial, national, and international prizes and awards.
Apply for Grants
The Grants and Awards Division of Research Services manages and administers funding to researchers from external funding bodies, including Tri-Council; Canadian and international foundations, associations and societies; government agencies; and other non-profit organizations. Programs range from large-scale grant programs, to targeted project-specific competitions, to smaller seed or travel funding. External awards are administered by the Grants and Awards Division of Research Services. The Office of the Vice-President (Research) offers internally-funded grants to faculty, postdocs and grad students.

Apply for Institutional Programs
The Institutional Programs Division (IPD) of Research Services works directly with faculties to provide a framework for the identification, qualification, development, submission and award management for major, institutionally-prioritized programs. The Institutional Programs team handles high-risk, high-reward, highly complex, and multi-partner programs, often targeting commercialization as a desired outcome. IPD builds teams of strategic professionals to work with the lead faculty and scientist to develop funding strategies, business plans, and superior institutional research proposals.

Apply for Chairs and Professorships
Chair and Professorship programs are strategically important local, regional, national and international initiatives providing crucial support to the University of Calgary's research activities. The application and administration for these programs are initiated and championed by senior administration at the University. Research Services works closely with the prestigious Canada Research Chairs program and manages high profile programs such as the NSERC Industrial Research Chairs and iCORE chairs programs.
