The Quan Health Data Analytics Summit is an immersive learning experience in health data research and analytics, bringing together leading international experts and participant-driven project development. Honouring the legacy of Dr. Hude Quan, this summit carries forward his impact by equipping participants with practical skills in health data analytics and administration to address complex, real-world challenges. 

This summit is designed for:

  • Health system and policy researchers. 

  • Clinicians. 

  • Epidemiologists. 

  • Biostatisticians. 

  • Health economists. 

  • Research staff and analysts who use administrative health data to conduct impactful research and inform policy and practice. 
     

Participants will:

  • Understand and analyze how health data systems are built, coded and used to support healthcare research. 
  • Evaluate and strengthen the quality of health administrative data by recognizing common challenges and applying practical solutions. 
  • Select and apply the right methods to measure patient health conditions, adjust for risk and evaluate how well research models perform. 
  • Design and execute a complete health data research study, from developing a research question to defining study groups and creating and analysis plan. 
  • Translate and communicate research findings clearly and explain their impact on healthcare policy, clinical practice and decision-making.

Participants will be staying at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. It is a world-class venue offering inspiring spaces for learning and collaboration, surrounded by the breathtaking Canadian Rockies.

For attendees arriving in Calgary before heading to Banff or staying an extra night in Calgary after the Summit, the Alt Hotel University District is offering a special group rate for participants.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

No, transportation will not be provided during the event. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. 

Banff is located 1.5 hours from Calgary International Airport (YYC). If you are driving yourself to the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, please note that a Banff National Park pass is required. You can purchase a pass online in advance or at the park gates upon arrival.

Transport Options:

If you wish to extend your visit in Banff after the event, you are responsible for booking additional nights with the Banff Centre directly or finding alternate accommodations. UCalgary staff will not be able to assist with these arrangements. 

Registration fees include four nights' accommodation at the Banff Centre for September 27, 2026 to October 1, 2025. Room bookings for these four nights have been arranged as part of your registration. 

If your spouse or family members are traveling with you, they are welcome to enjoy the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity amenities, explore Banff National Park, and participate in local activities while you attend the sessions.

No, childcare services will not be provided during the event. Attendees are responsible for making their own childcare arrangements if travelling with family.

For those bringing children, Banff offers various family-friendly activities and services. We recommend checking with your accommodation for potential childcare resources or exploring local childcare providers in the area.

If you're bringing a spouse or guest, the reserved rooms at the Banff Centre can accommodate maximum 2 adults and 2 children. 

Third and fourth occupants over the age of 14 may be subject to an additional fee of $20.00 per person, per night.

Yes. The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is located within Banff National Park. If you are driving yourself, you will need to purchase a National Park Pass for your vehicle. Passes can be bought online in advance or at the park gates upon arrival.
