Applicant Eligibility:

 

Please self-assess your eligibility for the CIHR Research Excellence, Diversity, and Independence (REDI) Early Career Transition Award before completing this Expression of Interest (EOI) registration form. 

1. Please carefully review the full eligibility guidelines on ResearchNet, and please give close attention to item 2 where CIHR defines the term "trainee". 

2. Please consult the CIHR REDI Self-Identification Tool (2025) to assess for yourself whether you meet CIHR's required self-identification criteria. This interactive tool is for preliminary self-screening only — your responses to it are private, and no information is stored or reviewed by the University of Calgary or by CIHR when using this tool.

Notice of Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) respects your privacy and is committed to ensuring the privacy of all students, staff and community members. Your personal information is being collected under the authority of section 4(c) of the Alberta Protection of Privacy Act, SA 2024, c P-28.5 (POPA). It will be managed in accordance with UCalgary’s Privacy Policy and as outlined below.

Your personal information will be used for the registration, coordination and administration of UCalgary's efforts to support and endorse applicants to the CIHR Research Excellence, Diversity, and Independence (REDI) Early Career Transition Award program, including for program support, eligibility assessment, quality assurance, and quality improvement purposes. It may also be shared with UCalgary leadership or other UCalgary academic or business units for the purpose of quality improvement.

We recognize the sensitive nature of your personal information and are committed to the protection of your privacy. UCalgary will treat your personal information as confidential at all times and will make reasonable security arrangements against such risks as unauthorized access to, collection, use, disclosure or destruction in accordance with POPA. Access to your personal information will be restricted to a limited number of designated individuals and your personal information will only be disclosed in de-identified form, or as otherwise permitted under POPA. It may be input into an automated system to generate content to make decision, recommendations, or predictions, such as an AI, machine-learning or deep-learning system or technology (Microsoft Copilot).
