Senior researchers who have discovered major advances or discoveries in biomedical sciences are typically awarded this prize. 

All nominations must be submitted by a nominator and include the following:

  • Synopsis justifying the award (claim to fame, 500 characters max) 
  • Detailed description of the work meriting the award (1 page)
  • Current research interest (1 page)
  • Key citations (max. 5)
  • Short CV
  • Photo
  • Additional information (e.g. publications, awards)

 

Summary

The Robert Koch Foundation, founded in 1907, is a non-profit foundation for the promotion of medical progress based in Berlin. The Foundation has set itself the goal of supporting the fight against infectious diseases and other epidemics. The Foundation supports both financially and through public recognition basic scientific research in the field of infectious diseases, as well as exemplary projects designed to address medical and hygienic problems.

The Robert Koch Award is one of the most prestigious scientific awards in the Federal Republic of Germany. The prize is awarded annually to researchers for outstanding and internationally recognized scientific achievements.
