Nominators must be members in good standing of an EIC Constituent Society.
Nominations reflecting the gender and ethnic diversity of the Canadian engineering community are being sought from EIC constituent societies or their members to recognize outstanding individuals that are most deserving of receiving a senior award or fellowship of the EIC.
Members cannot nominate themselves‚ they must be nominated by their peers.
Summary
The Sir John Kennedy Medal is awarded in recognition of outstanding services rendered to the engineering profession, or of noteworthy contributions to the science of engineering, or to the benefit of the Institute. Awarded once every two years.
The Julian C. Smith Medal recognizes achievement in the development of Canada. Up to two medals may be awarded each year.
The K.Y. Lo Medal recognizes significant engineering contributions at the international level. One medal may be awarded annually.
The John B. Stirling Medal is awarded for leadership and distinguished service at the national level within the Institute and/or its Member Societies, by members of these Societies. One medal may be awarded annually.
The Canadian Pacific Railway Medal recognizes many years of leadership and service by members of the Societies within the Institute at the regional, branch and section levels. Since 1990, one medal may be awarded annually.
Up to 20 members of EIC constituent societies are awarded EIC Fellowships by the Council of the Institute in recognition of their excellence in engineering and their services to the profession and to society.
Honorary Memberships are offered to non-members of the Institute and its Member Societies (including non-engineers) elected by the Council of the Institute for having achieved outstanding distinction through service to engineering and the profession of engineering in Canada.

Each year, the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) recognizes outstanding engineers amongst the membership of its constituent societies, both academic and industry based members, at an awards gala. A duly completed and signed nomination form, together with 2 or 3 support letters, must be forwarded to Guy Gosselin, EIC’s Executive Director (ggosselin.eic@gmail.com) before end of day November 15th (please note that this is a strict deadline).

NOTE: Nominations must be received by midnight 15 November 2023 to be considered for Spring 2024 Awards. No exceptions.
Nominations will be reviewed by the HAF committee (see below) which makes the award recommendations to the EIC Council.
EIC Constituent Societies are encouraged to consider nominating their most deserving members in a manner that best reflects the broad diversity of the Canadian engineering community in terms of gender and ethnicity and from the public (government, academia) or private sectors (industry, NGOs).
