What is Transdisciplinary Scholarship?

Hear from Dr. Petra Dolata and Dr. Jim Ellis, lead scholars at the Calgary Institute for the Humanities, who have been instrumental in creating the definition of Transdisciplinary Scholarship at UCalgary! They discussed what transdisciplinary scholarship is and the journey it took to get here, then Dr. Steven Byrant, Academic Lead (ITS), reflected on the past year. 

Connector and Catalyst Grants

The VPR Catalyst and Transdisciplinary Connector Grant programs are a key part of the internal funding landscape at UCalgary. They create opportunity throughout the year for researchers to access internal funding as a springboard for external opportunities. This information session covers the differences between these two programs, which grant is best suited to your project and tips for submitting a successful application.  

Transdisciplinary Connector Grants

This webinar covers: the requirements for assembling a transdisciplinary team, how to choose which funding stream to apply for, the standards for evaluation, and what happens after a notice of decision. A demo of the application form is also be shared, along with data on the breadth and depth of funded applications.

Transdisciplinary Research Impact

Professor Martina Schaefer, Scientific Director of the Center for Technology and Society in Berlin, discusses the societal impact of transdisciplinary research. She has led numerous transdisciplinary research projects in the area of sustainability studies and holds separate PhD degrees in environmental engineering and sociology.
