One Child Every Child Graduate Future Leaders Awards
One Child Every Child (OCEC) Graduate Future Leaders Awards are designed to attract and retain exceptional talents at the graduate level, promote transformational, transdisciplinary research in Child Health and Wellness, and position scholars for success as the research leaders of tomorrow.
Funded through the OCEC Transdisciplinary Training Accelerator, these awards are designed to foster a new generation of transdisciplinary child health and wellness researchers.
Eligibility
- The OCEC Excellence Awards are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and foreign citizens/international scholars.
- Candidates are eligible if they have either been accepted or registered in a full-time Graduate Studies program (Master’s or PhD) at University of Calgary or one of the OCEC institutional partners (University of Alberta, University of Lethbridge or Athabasca University). They must be enrolled in or have applied to a full-time research program/position. The research project must align with one One Child Every Child research theme, and at least one of the accelerators.
- Their research proposal should have a transdisciplinary focus.
- At the time of application, they must have identified a strong supervisor or co-supervisor at UCalgary or one of the OCEC institutional partners (University of Alberta, University of Lethbridge or Athabasca University).
- They must agree to comply with the Terms and Conditions of the award.
- A minimum GPA of 3.3 on the 4.0 scale (or equivalent) is required.
OCEC and the Transdisciplinary Training Accelerator are committed to ensuring that all scholars have equitable access to research funding and career support. Applicants from Indigenous and Equity-Deserving groups are highly encouraged to apply.

One Child Every Child is a Canada-first research and translation initiative funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund, with a vision for all Canadian children to be the healthiest, most empowered and thriving in the world. Led by the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute at the University of Calgary, One Child Every Child brings together Indigenous partners, Canada’s child health research institutes, equity-deserving communities, local and national partners as well as global collaborators to dramatically improve the lives of children across Canada and beyond.
