Impact of AI assisted LDCT interpretation on Radiologist workflow in the Alberta Lung Cancer Screening Program
Summary
This study will examine the impact of using an artificial intelligence image interpretation system on radiologists' interpretation and reporting of lung cancer screening CT examinations.
A subset of specialist chest radiologists currently interpreting CT scans as part of the Alberta Lung Cancer Screening Study will use the ClearReadCT artificial intelligence image analysis tool to help them report these exams.
We will measure the time it takes to report each exam and also evaluate how often the radiologist has to override a false finding by the software or add something that the system missed.
Eligibility
Eligible ages: 50 to 74
Inclusion criteria:
Individuals cannot themselves enroll directly into the study.
People in Calgary who are part of the Alberta Health Services - Alberta Lung Cancer Screening Program and undergo a low-dose CT exam during the study period may have their CT images analyzed by the ClearReadCT system prior to the radiologist's review and final interpretation. We plan to analyze 500 examinations as part of this study.
If this occurs, the medical CT imaging report will include a statement that the ClearReadCT system was used in the reporting of the exam.
