Join Dr. Penny Pexman, Associate Vice-President (Research) and the Research Services Office for an overview of SSHRC programs and funding opportunities. This session will cover relevant internal and external funding opportunities for individual and partnered research, and how they fit into the different stages of a research program.
Postdocs are welcome to attend and learn about funding they are eligible to apply for now, as well as identify potential pathways for future research funding.
About the Speakers
Dr. Penny Pexman, PhD (she/her)
Penny Pexman is Professor of Psychology and Associate Vice-President (Research) at UCalgary. She serves as Director of the Postdoctoral Program, and leads a number of initiatives including support for knowledge engagement and research funding in the social sciences and humanities. An award-winning mentor and researcher, Penny is an elected Fellow of both the Canadian Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science.
Dr. Stephanie Patrick, PhD (she/her)
Stephanie Patrick is a Grant Officer in the University of Calgary’s Research Services Office. She manages the SSHRC portfolio for individual grants, including Partnership Engage Grants, Connection Grants, Insight and Insight Development Grants, as well as other SSHRC competitions and Canadian Foundation grants.
Dr. Hector MacIntyre, PhD (he/him)
Hector MacIntyre is Manager of the Postdoctoral Office and Internal Grants team in Research Services. He oversees the VPR Catalyst Grants and advises on budgeting for SSHRC Explore and SSHRC Exchange UCalgary Enhancement Grants.
Caroline Morrison (she/her)
Caroline Morrison is Manager of Process Facilitation in the Institutional Programs Division of Research Services. The Institutional Programs Division manages large Tri-Agency competitions such as NSERC CREATE, SSHRC Partnership Development and Partnership Grants, and New Frontiers in Research Fund.
This session is offered by Research Services and cross-posted in the Navigating Partnered Research digital series hosted by the Knowledge Engagement team. This multi-part series aims to provide support and guidance for faculty members interested in pursuing partnered research projects in the social sciences and humanities.
