Summary

Context
Gender-based violence in the form of youth dating violence is a serious public health issue with long-lasting health and social impacts. The stages between adolescence and early adulthood are crucial times to provide youth with the knowledge and skills to develop and maintain healthy relationships throughout their lives.

Objectives
This funding opportunity aims to support projects that deliver and test health promotion interventions that:

  • foster healthy relationships
  • prevent youth dating violence
  • help build the youth dating violence prevention evidence base

This call for proposals has 3 streams of projects, each with its own objective:

  • Scale up stream
This stream scales up, delivers and further tests youth dating violence prevention interventions that have already shown to be effective through rigorous evaluation.
  • Key populations stream
This stream delivers and tests existing youth dating violence prevention interventions that support underserved or at-risk populations.
  • Indigenous stream
This stream supports Indigenous organizations to develop or adapt, deliver and test culturally appropriate youth dating violence prevention interventions for Indigenous youth.

This call for proposals aims to promote health equity by reducing disparities in health outcomes among population groups in Canada. Applicants are expected to incorporate health equity approaches and considerations into their project, including Gender-Based Analysis Plus.

  • Up to $1,250,000 in total for a project within a local, provincial, or territorial context
  • Up to $2,500,000 in total for a project in multiple provinces or territories

A limited number of projects will be funded through this call for proposals. Only request eligible costs that are necessary to deliver the project.

There are often higher costs associated with living and travelling in remote or northern areas. You may apply for up to an additional 35% of the maximum budget if you meet all 3 of these criteria:

  • The work plan includes activities in a remote or northern area
  • The budget includes costs for activities in a remote or northern area
  • The application supports costs that are higher due to activities in a remote or northern area

separate line items in the budget and provide justification and link to proposed activities. The

details on how the amount was determined. Applicants need to complete a detailed budget and
justification template (refer to the Invitation to Submit and Funding Request - eligible and
ineligible expenses and the attached Detailed Budget including Budget Justification tab) with a
breakdown of the project related costs. For example, % of utility costs or rent of organization
allocated to project staff; % of financial/bookkeeping position or executive director position time
working on the project; etc. The total cannot exceed 18% of PHAC’s financial contribution
to the project and must be prorated to reflect only the costs required to support the
PHAC funded portion of the project.
