Eligibility
The High Level Scientific fellowship programme is open to PhD students or post-doc in their early career (0 to 5 years after PhD) working in any university in Canada (outside of Quebec) in one of the topics mentioned previously. The candidates must not hold French citizenship.
The applicant is responsible for identifying the French host institution. If neither the applicant nor his/her research supervisor has an existing collaboration with a French team, we recommend to contact researchers in France to look for opportunities for collaboration.
Researchers working in the humanities and social sciences in connection with these themes are invited to apply.
The Embassy of France in Canada encourages applications from members of groups that have been marginalized on any grounds, including sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, racialization, disability, political belief, religion, marital or family status, age, and/or status as a First Nation, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous person.
Summary
The Embassy of France in Canada has partnered with Campus France to offer scholarships to PhD students or post-docs working in a Canadian university for a 2-month research mobility to France. The aim of this programme is to facilitate and strengthen collaboration with academic researchers in scientific fields that are priorities for France and Canada, as defined at the first Joint Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation between France and Canada in 2023.
The call for applications is open to the following themes:
- Emerging Technologies: AI, quantum, etc.
- Health: One health, public health policy, genomics, etc.
- Ocean and polar sciences: oceanography, biodiversity, marine ecology, etc.
- Energy: renewable energy, net zero transition, sustainability, etc.
The scholarship includes :
- International flight (round trip from Canada to France in economy class)
- 1700 euros/month
- Health insurance (including liability insurance)
Laureates who require a visa to enter France are responsible for the procedures and costs involved in obtaining this visa. As visa applications can take 2-3 months, laureates must begin the process as soon as the results are announced. They must update the French Embassy in Canada on the progress of their application.
