Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) is currently accepting faculty project submissions for Summer 2025. GRI pairs faculty in Canada with international undergrads for 12-week research projects from May to October.

  • All disciplines are eligible
  • Top-ranked senior undergrads travel to Canada from our participating countries and regions
  • Faculty can submit multiple projects and re-submit projects from previous years

In order to be eligible for hosting interns as part of the Globalink Research Internship program, you must: 

  • Have one of the following statuses at an eligible institution: Full professor, Associate professor, Assistant professor, Adjunct professor, Emeritus professor
  • Be able to supervise international students at your institution
  • Be able to host interns within the stipulated dates of the GRI program: Internships must start between May 1 and July 31 and must be delivered over the course of 12 consecutive week.

Summary

Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) pairs professors in Canada with some of the world’s brightest undergrads for 12‑week internships. No matter the discipline, faculty can recruit from a vast pool of students from abroad, bringing international talent and experience to your research projects.

Work with exceptional undergrads from partner countries and regions including Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the USA.

The amount of funding varies depending on where the student is travelling from. The Globalink research internship award amount includes:

  • Funding to contribute to the cost of a round-trip airfare to Canada (amount varies depending on country of origin)
  • Funding to contribute to the cost of transportation from the airport in Canada to accommodation
  • Stipend for housing (amount varies depending on country of origin)
  • Stipend towards student enrollment fees up to a maximum of $300
  • Stipend for food and incidentals (amount varies depending on country of origin)
  • Emergency health insurance policy for the duration of the internship
  • Support from student mentors on campus in Canada
  • Access to industry events and professional development courses

Mitacs encourages multiple project submissions to facilitate successful matching.

Submit your projects by June 4, 2024 at 1 p.m. PT (2 p.m. MT). It is a quick and easy process to apply for the GRI program: Submit an application for Summer 2025.

**Note: For profs who have submitted GRI projects in the past, the process can be as simple as clicking “clone” and “submit” if you would like to use the same project(s).**
