Summary
The Housing Research Awards recognize research excellence and provide funding to support exceptional work. This work generates essential data and insights that are key to advancing the objectives of Canada’s National Housing Strategy.
The initiative focuses on completed or near completed research activities. The awards recognize impactful and innovative Canadian housing research, research training, knowledge mobilization and outreach activities. They play a crucial role in building and sustaining Canada’s culture of research-based housing knowledge. This spans across key fields, including the social sciences and humanities, health and technology.
CMHC administers this program on behalf of the Government of Canada.

Additional Information
The quota on one nomination for the university applies per department or research team. Each department can therefore put forward one nomination. To ensure that there is not overlap amongst the research teams, please notify Research Services at researchawards@ucalgary.ca by noon on August 1, 2024 with your intent to apply. The intent of this notice is to ensure that no more than one application is put forward per department/research team. Please send the following:
- Principal Investigator’s name
- All other faculty members part of the team, if applicable
- Faculty and Department
- Project Title
