Exploring the Education and Learning Needs of People Living with an Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator ICD
Summary
This study will involve virtual interviews to better understand the learning needs of patients and their family members around the time of Insertion of an Implantable Defibrillator. This interview will take up to 30-60 minutes and it will be recorded.
The purpose is to allow us to:
- To identify the gaps in current patient teaching
- To identify their learning needs
- To improve the current teaching program into a patient-centric program
Eligibility
Eligible ages: 18 to 100
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
• Patients age 18 and over living with an ICD across Canada
• Able and willing to provide informed consent
• Able and additional willingness to participate in a virtual interview
• Caregivers or family members of patients with ICDs
Exclusion criteria:
Inability to speak, understand English
