Facilitating Successful Transitions to Home Dialysis
Summary
The purpose of this research study is to better understand the needs of people as they transition onto home dialysis (peritoneal dialysis or home hemodialysis) as well as the needs of the people that support them.
If you volunteer to participate in this study, the researcher will ask you to participate in six group sessions that will be spread out over ten weeks. Each of the six sessions will last about 1.5 hours and will take place online over the zoom platform. Each session will have a different assignment.
- In the first session we will brainstorm what your unique needs were or are.
- In the second session we will combine everyone’s needs to make a single list.
- In the third session you will sort the needs into related groups.
- In the fourth session you will rate the different needs based on importance and how easy they would be to meet.
- In the fifth and sixth sessions the group will look at the results (for example, what needs were identified as most important) and have a discussion around them.
