Human Peritoneal Immune Cell Populations in Abdominal Injury and Disease
Summary
The goal of this study is to determine whether a specific type of immune cells which we previously identified in mice is also found in humans, and to investigate its possible role in health, during disease and after injury.
Eligibility
Eligible ages: 18 to 100
Inclusion criteria:
• Patients undergoing procedures that would involve removing peritoneal fluid (intra-peritoneal abdominal surgery or large volume paracentesis ) for clinical reasons.
• Age ≥ 18
Exclusion criteria:
• Age <18
• Known pre-existing autoimmune disorder.
