Living with Celiac Disease in Punjabi Communities: Exploring Challenges in Adherence to the Gluten-free Diet
Summary
Help our research team learn more about potential challenges related to the gluten-free diet in the Punjabi community!
Celiac disease (CD) is a lifelong autoimmune condition which can only be managed with a strict gluten-free diet (GFD). CD is becoming more common, and the Pediatric Gastroenterology Clinic at the Alberta Children's Hospital is interested in learning how we can improve upon GFD education and celiac disease management in ethnic minorities, namely the Punjabi population. Through focus groups, we will explore the lived experience of Punjabi patients and caregivers with CD to identify potential facilitators and barriers in CD management, with a focus on language and culture.
