POET-SHIELD
Summary
The POET-SHIELD study collects detailed information about participants' cancer biology, health, and lifestyle. By collecting biological samples, we will be able to conduct molecular analysis on these samples to determine targets for treatment and how these targets may change during treatment, or at recurrence and progression of disease. Identifying potential molecular targets can greatly impact the development of new treatments in hopes of improving survival outcomes for cancer patients.
Through the POET-SHIELD study, the POET Program will play a key role in developing a personalized approach to treatment planning as well as facilitating the timely adoption of new therapies.
If you choose to participate, your information will be pooled with a very large group of other cancer patients in Alberta. Through this program, we aim to benefit the scientific community through access to clinical data and biological samples for research purposes in hopes of improving treatments and survival outcomes for cancer patients within the community.
