Simultaneous fMRI and TUS-based Neurostimulation
Summary
We are seeking healthy adults to participate in a brain imaging (MRI) study. Your participation will contribute to research that aims to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of a neurostimulation technique called Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS). The research study aims to help develop non-invasive treatments for various neurological and psychiatric disorders. The time commitment for this study requires four in person visits of 2-3 hours each at the Seaman Family MR Research Centre at Foothills Hospital and one remote questionnaire.
Eligibility
Eligible ages: 18 to 40
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
• Aged 18-40
• Healthy
• Availability to participate in all sessions over five weeks
• Normal to corrected vision
• Normal hearing
Exclusion criteria:
• Implanted devices (e.g., pacemaker)
• Pregnancy
• History of neurological or psychiatric disorders
• Personal or family history of seizures, mood, or cardiovascular disorder
• Ear trauma
• Alcohol or drug dependency
• Use of prescription medications for mental health or blood pressure
• Legal incapacity
• Inability to communicate with research staff
