SMART Concussion Treatment Trial for Youth
Summary
Our study team is examining whether a 6 week concussion treatment program that treats specific symptoms of headache and neck pain or dizziness, is more effective than a concussion treatment program that treats all of those symptoms more broadly.
Eligibility
Eligible ages: 13 to 19
Inclusion criteria:
We are looking for youth aged 13-19 who:
- have sustained a concussion in the last 3 weeks
- have access to a smartphone or computer
- can come to the Acute Sport Concussion Clinic at the University of Calgary
Exclusion criteria:
We cannot enroll patients who:
- have underlying inflammatory diseases
- have other injuries that would not allow them to do physical activity or participate or have a concussion due to a motor vehicle accident
- have had a moderate or severe brain injury
