Transforming Crisis Phone Line and Text Supports: Culturally Appropriate Practices

Summary

Our study looks at how crisis phone lines and text services in Canada respond to culturally diverse callers and texters. We are interested in interviewing crisis support responders, and experts in equity, diversity, and inclusion/cultural consultants for this study. We would like to hear about their perspectives on what is needed to provide culturally appropriate and relevant crisis services when supporting people from diverse ethnocultural backgrounds who are experiencing mental health issues and/or suicide ideation. This study also wants to look at recommendations or changes that can improve crisis services for ethnoculturally diverse populations (including newcomers, immigrants, visible and racial minorities and refugees) who are experiencing mental health issues and/or suicide ideation.
