Understanding Intergenerational Narratives in Chinese Canadian Immigrant Families
Summary
This study explores how Chinese immigrants talk about personal experiences in their families. We want to understand how these discussions happen and what they mean to each family member. This study looks at the importance of these conversations to one's sense of identity. Participants will attend an individual interview to share their experiences on this topic. This interview will last around two hours.
Eligibility
Eligible ages: 18 to 64
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
We are looking for members of Chinese families residing in the Calgary area who fit the following criteria:
At least one parent who is:
o Born between 1960 and 1975 AND
o Born in China and immigrated to Canada after the age of 12
At least one child who is:
o Born between 1990 and 2005 AND
o Born in China and immigrated to Canada before the age of 12 OR
o Born in Canada
