There is an internal adjudication process for this opportunity.

Candidates should be maximum PhD+ 5 years with proven scientific excellence and high potential for innovation, transformation and dissemination.

Summary

The topic of this year's call is  “Navigating misinformation and trust erosion in the digital age”. 8 Postdoctoral researchers addressing issues geared toward assessing, identifying, quantifying, and understanding the socio-economic impact of misinformation and exploring solutions to mitigate it will be supported based on the AXA Research Fund’ Scientific Board’s decision.  

Internal Selection Process:

Eligible candidates who wish to hold the AXA Fellowship at the University of Calgary must submit a complete expression of interest to the Postdoctoral Office. The expression of interest includes three documents:

  1. Applicant information: Full name; birth date; nationality; PhD defense date; current university affiliation; University of Calgary supervisor (name and Faculty); H-index and source (funder's requirement, not UCalgary requirement)
  2. Short curriculum vitae (maximum of 3 pages); and
  3. Project title and Project description (maximum of 3,000 characters, including spaces).

Email these documents as one PDF, copying your University of Calgary supervisor on the email, to postdoc@ucalgary.ca by 12:00 p.m., April 10, 2024.

Expressions of interest will be adjudicated by the Office of the Vice-President (Research). The selected applicant will be invited to complete the submission of their expression of interest to AXA via its online application portal.

Should AXA invite the applicant to complete a full application, the Postdoctoral Office will inform the applicant of the submission process and relevant institutional requirements.

  • Expressions of interest due to Research Services by 12:00 noon on April 10th, 2024
  • Selected nominee submits expression of interest due in AXA portal by by 8:00 a.m., April 15, 2024

Approvals

NOTE: Consult your Faculty Associate Dean (Research) (ADR) regarding Faculty-specific deadlines and submission processes.

Principal Investigators: Complete a Research Management System (RMS) record, including a copy of your complete application, and submit this for approvals in RMS.

Postdocs, students, and trainees: For fellowships and externally-sponsored research training awards or opportunities, you must complete the Research Funding Application Approval (RFAA) Trainee PDF form, and submit it, along with a complete copy of the application, to Research Services at rsotrainee@ucalgary.ca. Trainees should not use RMS at this time.

Approvals: The University of Calgary requires that all funding applications be approved prior to submission. Approval requires signatures via either RMS or the RFAA Trainee form, in the following order:

  • Principal Investigator
  • Department Head
  • Faculty ADR/Dean
  • Research Services (on behalf of the Vice-President Research)

Late submissions: Late submissions will only be accepted in cases of medical or family emergencies, or other exceptional circumstances.
