Biofield Therapy for People with Cancer and their Caregivers
Summary
Bio-field therapies (e.g. reiki, healing touch) work with one’s physical and energetic bodies to support wellbeing.
This first of its kind study will explore whether a 1 on 1 bio-field energetic therapy improves psychosocial health and pain in persons experiencing cancer.
Participants will experience three, 1-hour sessions over the course of 5 weeks, in person at the Arthur Child Cancer Centre.
Complete two online surveys, before and after the program and an optional 45 minute interview within 2 weeks of finishing the program
Participants receive a $20 “everything” gift card
Eligibility
Eligible ages: 18 to 99
Inclusion criteria:
18 or older, and living in the Calgary area
Current or previous diagnosis with any type of cancer OR a current caregiver to someone with cancer
Received, or still undergoing cancer treatment (chemotherapy, surgery, etc.)
Physically well enough to attend in-person sessions
Comfortable reading and speaking English
Exclusion criteria:
People who do not meet the inclusion criteria
