Exploring the Lived Experiences of Muslim senior citizen refugees aged 60+

Summary

This research project aims to investigate the experiences of senior Muslim refugees aged 60 and above in Alberta, Canada. The province of Alberta has witnessed a growing influx of refugee populations, and understanding the unique challenges, needs, and experiences of senior Muslim refugees is vital for effective community integration and support. This study will delve into the background and context of Muslim refugee senior citizens in Alberta, exploring their migration trajectories, cultural adjustments, social networks, and access to healthcare and social services. The primary objectives involve uncovering the multifaceted aspects of their lived experiences and identifying potential areas for community support and policy interventions.
Objectives:

a. To understand the motives behind the decision of refugee muslim people aged 60+ to seek refuge.
b. To explore the lived experiences of those people in Alberta, Canada, with a particular emphasis on their encounters with identity changes.
c. To investigate the factors influencing the choice of Alberta as a destination for settlement among the interviewed women.
d. To analyze the perceived sense of value, discrimination, and opportunities among immigrants in Alberta.
e. To assess their access to healthcare, job and housing

3. A refugee from any country
