Who are qualified nominees? 

  • The ASTech Awards recognize Alberta’s innovation ecosystem’s key contributors, from companies to entrepreneurs and researchers. They provide inspiration and motivation, acknowledging various industry champions’ hard work and success. Nominees can be Companies, Entrepreneurs, Industry Champions, Researchers, and many more.

Nominations can come from various sources, such as principals, colleagues, institutions, companies, employers, community members, and applications (self-nominations).

The full nomination form is approximately:

– 3 pages in length
– Requests supporting documentation
– This nomination pathway is required for all nominations.

Do you know suitable potential nominees? This is your chance to show your support - by "Recommending" that they or their organization consider completing the Nomination Process.

All submitted Recommendations are reviewed regularly by the ASTech team, and we contact the eligible candidates - notifying them of the community support (ie. that they have been "Recommended") - and encourage them to make a full (approx. 3-page) Standard Nomination submission.

SUPPORT Review:

The SUPPORT: Research Awards committee is available to review and provide feedback to strengthen nominations for ASTech Awards nominations. This committee is comprised of distinguished University of Calgary faculty who have won major national awards and sat on national award selection committees.

SUPPORT Review deadline (optional): April 25, 2024

Please submit the request for review to researchawards@ucalgary.ca.

  1. Nomination Form - 3 pages in length
  2. Any supporting documents (articles, interviews, marketing materials, letters of support, etc.)
  3. Each submission must include a SUPPORT Review Form. 
  4. Each faculty must submit a short statement describing how equity, diversity, and inclusion were considered in the internal Faculty selection process.
