Summary

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to identify a host for the 2025 CIHR Institute of Gender and Health Summer Institute in Sex and Gender+ Science1.

In Summer 2024, the Institute of Gender and Health (IGH) will host a Summer Institute in Sex and Gender+ Science for trainees (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) with a focus on methods and measures for Sex, Gender+, and health research. In subsequent years, IGH will delegate this responsibility to a team identified through a launch of a funding opportunity, as is the case with this current funding opportunity.

The IGH Summer Institute is a 5-day training program in Sex and Gender+ Science with the goal of providing up to 30 trainees from Canadian institutions with advanced training in sex, gender+, and health research across the four pillars of health sciences research. The IGH Summer Institute is an opportunity to be exposed to, learn from, and network with leaders in sex and gender+ science; it represents an opportunity for knowledge exchange among trainees, instructors and mentors with a goal of promoting the dissemination of best practices in research.

The 2025 Summer Institute host will be expected to develop a curriculum that includes objectives, readings, training, mentoring, capacity building, experiential learning, and other opportunities for learning to enhance capacity in Sex and Gender+ science and health research, including developing capacity for meaningful and culturally safe engagement with Indigenous communities.
