The Effects of Multi-Joint Lower Body Strength and Compression Garments on Soft Tissue Vibrations During Prolonged Outdoor Running in Male and Female Athletes
Summary
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of compression garments and lower body muscular strength on soft tissue vibrations during long-distance outdoor running.
Participants will be asked to complete 3 separate days of data collection that will include:
1) Baseline testing of body composition using a x-ray scanner, muscular strength and power using a leg press and jumping on force plates, and finally a 3 minute maximal outdoor running test.
2) Two, 5 km sub-maximal outdoor runs (one with compression shorts, one without compression shorts). These runs will be performed on separate days, and will be outfitted with small wearable sensors to collect data
