The competition for the CLSA Book Prize is open to books from all fields of, and approaches to, law and society scholarship.
The prize is intended to recognize new, outstanding work in law and society scholarship in Canada or by Canadian authors.
Nominations are accepted from all aspects of the field and may include first books of young scholars and books that are capstones of long careers in law and society research and publication. Self-nominations are accepted.
Monographs and edited volumes are accepted as are books by Canadian and international publishers. The winner(s) receive an official certificate of award and a one-year membership in the Canadian Law & Society Association.

Requirements for Nominations:
• Only one single-authored work by the same author in a given year will be accepted. Two works by the same author will be accepted if one or both works are jointly authored.
• Books must be published in English, French or be English/French translations of original works.
• Books submitted must have a publication date during the calendar year prior to the award ceremony.
• Page proofs may not be sent.
• A letter of support from the nominator, including a synopsis of the book, must accompany the nomination.
• All supporting documents must be submitted in English or French and be in .DOC, .RTF, or .PDF format.
• Copies of the book are required to be sent directly to the Book Prize Committee Chair. An address will be provided after the nomination is submitted.
Committee members may live in other countries. Please take this into consideration for shipping time. The award will be made at the CLSA’s annual meeting, in May or June of the year after the eligible books are published. To be considered for the award, books must be postmarked by the previous February 15 and received by March 1.
