Eligibility
Investigators and/or sub-investigators must be affiliated with the Arthur Child Cancer Centre (ACCC).
Summary
The competition for funding of Investigator Initiated Trials (IIT) is now open to all Arthur Child Cancer Centre (ACCC) investigators and researchers. Only interventional studies that involve patients and require patient consent will be eligible for this competition. These studies will be conducted within the context of the ACCC Clinical Research Unit (CRU) to manage the trial from activation to closeout as well as provide regulatory and financial oversight. Retrospective analyses, purely basic science and observational projects are not eligible.
Investigators may apply for funds to supplement interventional investigator-initiated studies partly funded by other sources. Moreover, investigators and/or sub-investigators must be affiliated with the ACCC. All eligible studies must support and advance the mandate of the ACCC CRU in enhancing cancer patient outcomes. Trials that require interdisciplinary collaboration to reach a translational goal are highly encouraged, especially those that include investigators from both the ACCC and Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute.
For this competition round, up to $600,000 in funding is available.
To obtain the application documents, please contact arthurchild.iit@ahs.ca.
As IIT support is made possible thanks to donors to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF), there will be an expectation that successful investigators support ACF fundraising efforts by responding to trial-related questions and/or providing further information as required.
Submission Process
This competition will be part of the Research Management System (RMS), and approvals will be obtained electronically. Research Funding Application Approvals (RFAA) forms are not required as approvals are collected electronically in RMS.
Full Application
The Full Application, plus approval in the Research Management System (RMS) using a Pre-Award/Application record, must be submitted to RSO by March 27, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Please be sure to select 'Submitted for approval' (under Save & Progress) in RMS in good time to allow for approvals from your Department Head and/or ADR prior to the RSO internal deadline.
